Prof Asuzu

Michael Chiemeli Asuzu is a professor of public health & community medicine at the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan and holds the complementary post of honorary consultant community & occupational physician with the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He is also the director of the 51 year old Ibarapa Community & Primary Health Care Programme of the institutions. He was previously head of the Department of Community Medicine of the two institutions.
Prof. Asuzu has been the foundation president of the Society of Public Health Professionals of Nigeria from its formation in 2012. He had been national chairman of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria, secretary and then chairman of the Faculty of Public Health of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, life member of the International Epidemiological Association, Rockefeller Foundation Clinical Epidemiology Fellow, member of the International Congress on Occupational Health and member of the Society of Occupational & Environmental Health Physicians of Nigeria.
His research, teaching and professional developmental interests are in the areas of the epidemiology and control of the major infectious diseases in Nigeria, clinical epidemiology of the major endemic diseases of the country, the organization and delivery of occupational and primary health care services in Nigeria and chastity-based adolescent and family life education & services.
